Mary Alice Reporting – For their community contributions, each year, businesses and individuals are recognized during an awards presentation.

The Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce will hand out seven awards during their 64th event to be held February 1st, at the Kent State Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center.

Among those to be honored are Buckeye Career Center as the large business of the year and Custom Needle – Print LLC named as the small business.

During New Philadelphia’s recent council meeting, Mayor Joel Day congratulated Don Kemp, who will receive an award.

“The Council President and New Philadelphia businessman has been named to the Tuscarawas County Chamber’s Hall of Fame. He will receive his well-deserved award at the Chamber’s annual awards banquet.”

Other recognitions include Citizen of the Year going to Cassie Elvin, Rae-Lin Jones who was selected as the Volunteer of the Year, and from Strasburg High School, Jimm Morris was named Educator of the Year.
