Mary Alice Reporting: (Tuscarawas County, Ohio) A new representative for Ohio’s 98th District was sworn into office after receiving the majority vote in November.

Monday started the 133rd General Assembly and Brett Hillyer’s first term as a member of the State House.

After a highly contested race, Hillyer won with 65% of the votes in Tuscarawas County and 80% in Holmes County.

Hillyer, an attorney, served as Uhrichsville Law Director and an advisory for several villages. He takes over for Al Landis, who reached his term limit and was elected as Commissioner for Tuscarawas County.
