Assemblies Aimed at Encouraging Youth to Make Better Choices

High school and middle school students in Tuscarawas County are attending a series of assemblies this week.

Director of Operations with “Break the Grey,” Valerie Norton, says the assembly series helps students face challenges in and outside of the classroom.

Norton says Bill Ballenger heads up the assemblies and says he addresses topics such as character development and making good choices.

She says he also ties in a good deal of personal experience.

Norton says Ballenger aims to prevent young people from making the kind of bad choices he made earlier in life.

Norton says Ballenger is also a recording artist and has released several CDs.

Again, Ballenger is presenting a series of assemblies this week.

Schools participating in the assemblies are Claymont, Dover, Garaway, Indian Valley, Newcomerstown, New Philadelphia, Strasburg and Tuscarawas Valley.

On Thursday, Ballenger and his band will perform a free concert at Dover High School at 7pm.
