Construction of a new community center in Sugarcreek is nearing completion.
Ground was broken near the Garaway football stadium in March 2011 for the structure that will house an athletic complex for the school district and will also include a large multi-purpose room, kitchen, offices and an area for the Garaway Senior Center.
Campaign committee chair Arnold Klaiber says the building is 90-percent complete.
A combination of grants and donations from area businesses and individuals is helping to fund the project.
But Klaiber says they can’t move forward with the remainder of the work until more funds are raised.
Klaiber says they would like to be able to turn the building over to Garaway by the end of this year.
