Spokesman Shane Cartmill says about 48-thousand meters across the Great Trail operating area have been upgraded with new Automated Meter Reading (AMR) devices.
Cartmill says this technology eliminates the need for customers with indoor meters to make arrangements to have their meters read, among other things.
Cartmill says the AMR system uses radio technology to automatically read the meter from a vehicle. He says the company began using the new system this week in a host of locations including Carrollton, Minerva and Strasburg.
According to Columbia Gas of Ohio, the new AMR system installation is one of a series of programs designed to enhance the company’s infrastructure and customer service.
