Commissioner Tom Wheaton says requests from the various department heads and elected officials are currently about $300,000 higher than what the county auditor has estimated general fund dollars to be for next year.
Wheaton says it’s common for requests to top estimated revenue this time of the year.
Wheaton says he’s confident they will be able to put forth a full, working budget for 2013.
Wheaton says the commissioners have a good working relationship with all those involved in the budget process, which he says helps to make putting together a balanced spending plan easier.
Wheaton says still unknown at this time is how much of a carryover the county will have going into next year.
Wheaton says the goal is to have the county’s 2013 budget finalized by the end of December.
