Expert Offers Homework Advice for Parents, Students
Alex Knisely Reporting
Getting children to complete their homework can often cause headaches for parents and students.
With the new school year quickly approaching, there are some steps parents can take to prepare their children for getting back in the “school routine.”
Kim Tredick, a 5th grade teacher at the Golden Oak Community School in Santa Clarita, California says parents should ease their children into the back to school schedule before the new school year actually gets underway.
Tredick suggests parents discuss homework policies with teachers for team-building and to better plan when homework sessions should take place after school.
Tredick says homework is parent-child interaction time and says this approach can help make after school homework sessions less stressful on children.
Tredick advocates that parents promote the value in learning and also help their child become organized to help take the pain out of learning.
