Juvenile Attention Center Expected to Open by Spring

The area’s new juvenile attention center is on track to be open by springtime.

With the construction team under roof and working on the internal building of the new facility, Tuscarawas County Commissioner and juvenile attention center board of trustees member Kerry Metzger is pleased that the project is coming in on budget.

Metzger says the current location for the attention center is across from the Kent State University Tuscarawas campus.

Metzger says building this new facility is necessary in part because the current building is suffering from structural issues caused by water.

Metzger says the new location for the attention center will be near the justice center across from the county jail and the sheriff’s office.

Metzger says as long as the winter weather isn’t especially brutal, the new attention center should be able to open at its new Reiser Avenue location in New Philadelphia by the spring of next year.
