In addition to her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by husband William R. “Booker” Russell, Newcomerstown, who died on December 9, 1995, and whom she married May 2, 1938. Also deceased are two sons, Rudolph L. “Rudy” Russell, who died in 1993 and Frank P. Russell, who died in 1990. She was also preceded in death by grandson Shawn Lee Russell, a great granddaughter, Jakara Harris, a sister, Mae Dansby-Ridley, and four brothers: George, Arthur, Archie, and Elijah Dansby.
Mamie leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Dolores Nutter, Zanesville, and Adell Dean, Columbus, and two sons, William Lee and wife Rachel (Holbert) Russell and Terrell Russell, all of Columbus. Also surviving are step children Randy, Rita, Dennis, and Karen Russell, 37 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, an aunt, Mae (Draper) Johnson, Warren, a special nephew, Fred and wife Vonzie Dansby, and many friends.
A Service of Memory will be held Sunday (tonight) at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 720 East Long Street, Columbus. Visiting hours will also be held tonight in Columbus at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until the 6:00 PM funeral. Local funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2:00 PM, from the Ourant Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Sherrell will conduct the services. Burial will follow at West LawnCemetery, Newcomerstown. Local visiting hours will be held at the Ourant Funeral Home on Monday from Noon until the 2:00 PM funeral.
