Neighbor to Neighbor Program Kicks Off its 2012-2013 Program Year

Families facing an immediate utility crisis can apply for assistance through the Neighbor to Neighbor Program.

The program is a partnership between American Electric Power Ohio and Dollar Energy Fund.

AEP Ohio Spokeswoman Shelly Clark says with help from the Neighbor to Neighbor Program, families in need can receive a one-time grant that is applied directly to their AEP bill.

Clark says the current program year started October 1st and runs through April 30th

Clark says AEP Ohio customers must meet certain income eligibility requirements in order to qualify for the program.

Since the program began in 2009, Clark says 22,500 Ohio families have received more than $5.6 million dollars.

She says the Neighbor to Neighbor Program in Ohio is funded by public contributions that are matched dollar for dollar by AEP Ohio.
