Ray graduated from Sherrodsville High School in 1945 then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served overseas duty in the Aleutian Islands. He was employed for 28 years with the former Sparta Mfg. Co. where he finished his career as Sales and Marketing Manager. In 1982 he began a10 year tenure as plant manager of the Myrtle Beach, S.C. division which is one of the five plants still existing in the Carolina’s owned by Con Braco Industries. He was also employed for 12 years at the Kimble Mixer Company where he transported mixer trucks all over the United States. Ray was a member of Alpine Bible Church at Sugarcreek and has always been active in various church related activities including the Christian Businessmen’s Assoc. and he also sang in the Choir, quartet and solo segments of the musical activities of the church.
His wife, the former Reba Wertman whom he married Dec. 19, 1950, preceded him in death on January 13, 2011.
Surviving are a son John B. (Barbi) Stahl of Athens, Ga., 2 daughters Colleen “Coke” (Dave) Yaggi of Dover and Sue (Rod) Rothacher also of Dover; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 2 brothers John W. (Katherine) Stahl of Dover and Lloyd B. (Marge) Stahl of Texas.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Funeral services will be Sunday September 23, 2012 at 5:00 PM in Alpine Bible Church at Sugarcreek. Pastor Byron Stewart and Pastor Jack Stahl will officiate. Friends may call Sunday from 2 PM to 5 PM in the church. Burial with military honors along with his wife will be held in Sherrodsville Memory Gardens at Sherrodsville at a later date.
