The village’s contract with Smith Ambulance expired in August 2012 and officials have decided to extend the contract agreement through August 2013 at the same rate.
Smith Ambulance President Bob Smith says his company has served the Twin Cities for 14 years and notes that the area continues to be a priority.
Smith says Smith Ambulance operates under “diminishing resources” when it comes to both Dennison and Uhrichsville.
Smith says it is important to have a good working relationship with the Dennison Fire Department as the two often assist each other in certain situations.
With talks of the city of Uhrichsville possibly establishing its own fire-based EMS service, Smith says the situation prevents his company from signing a multi-year deal with Dennison.
