(Monday, October 08, 2018) Washington Township, Ohio – The Stark County Highway Patrol Post is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:23 am.

Sgt. John Hromiak said 48-year-old Craig A. Underwood, of Alliance, was driving a 2001 Chevy S-10 when he was traveling eastbound on US 62 near milepost 35.

“His pickup went off the right side of the road. Then he overcorrected, rolling over multiple times into the grassy median. At that point, Mr. Underwood was ejected from the vehicle and thrown into the westbound lane of US 62.”

Hromiak said Underwood was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

“Mr. Underwood was then struck by two tractor trailers. Mr. Underwood sustained fatal injuries as a result of the traffic crash.”

Underwood was then transported to the coroner’s office. Authorities say alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash.
