Mary Alice Reporting:

(Wednesday, October 11th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – Kent State Tuscarawas is bringing back their Lecturer Series and presenting this week is a veteran of five Space Shuttle missions.

Director of Advancement Chad Conrad says the new lecture series was developed to open up discussions about science, art, and more to the campus by bringing in highly known individuals.

“It’s an opportunity for the Kent State Tuscarawas campus to give back to the community. People in the community really missed that opportunity to hear nationally known speakers and sharing viewpoints to create conversation, learning, and thought.”

Opening TuscTalks on Thursday, October 12th will be Dr. Scott Parazynski, who has been in space five times and is a member of the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame.

“He’s climbed Mount Everest, he was John Glenn’s personal physician when they went into space in 1998. So, he’s also doing this as a tribute to Glenn. Coming back to his home state and where John Glenn learned to fly. He has his own business and he’s also releasing a book called The Sky Below.”

The free event begins at 7:30pm at the Performing Arts Center and for ticket information call the Box Office at 330-308-6400.
