Audrey A. Hanni, 92, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away on July 25, 2023, in West Lafayette, OH. She was born March 21, 1931, in Newcomerstown, OH to Lawrence Groff and Beatrice (Schweitzer) Groff.
Audrey had many jobs, including working at the Canton Health Department, working at Dr. Kaufman’s office, taking tickets at OSU, and being a Times Reporter correspondent. Audrey served on Newcomerstown town council for many years. She helped found the Apple Festival. She helped raise money for the fourth of July fireworks. She helped bring Santa Claus to town and answer letters each year. She was president of tourism and would organize bus trips to Ogelbay to view lights and was the secretary of the board at Passport. She was a member of the Christ Methodist Church in Newcomerstown where she sang in the choir. On May 28, 1966, she married Paul Hanni who passed away in 1992.
Audrey is survived by her brother Chuck (Suzie) Groff of Newcomerstown and sister Majorie Groff of Coshocton; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Larry (Edith) Groff.
Services for Audrey Hanni will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Pleasant View Cemetery with Rev. Bracken Foster officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.addyfuneralhome.com.
