Mary Alice Reporting – The price for a collaboration of county, township, village, and city road paving’s is under consideration.

The Tuscarawas County Board of Commissioners held a bid opening this week for the 2019 roadway reprofiling and resurfacing projects.

Engineer Joe Bachman explains the total work consists of just under 32 miles, including the Sheriff parking lot and roadway in Uhrichsville, Strasburg, and Lawrence Township.

“For us, 25 miles is on the high side from what we normally do. This is probably one of our bigger programs in recent years.”

Any actual paving will not happen until July, but Bachman notes they county will be conducting about 56 miles of chip sealing.

“We typically chip seal somewhere 55 or 65 miles of roads and we’re just not able to pave every road we need to pave.”

The estimate for all paving projects is $3.5 million. The Commissioners are now considering the submitted bids.
