Bishop Eli A. Yoder – February 14, 2018

Bishop Eli A. Yoder 89 of 2281 CR 58 Millersburg died peacefully in his home on Wednesday February 14, 2018.

He was born on September 3, 1928 in Holmes County to the late Albert L. and Katie Ann (Raber) Yoder. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church where was ordained Minister in 1954 and Bishop in 1975.  He is survived by his wife, the former Dena Hershberger whom he married on December 21, 1950.

He is survived by his 4 sons and 2 daughters; Levi (Esther) Yoder of the home, Henry (Katie) Yoder, Albert (Verna) Yoder, Junior (Ada) Yoder, Mary (Alfred) Yoder, and Katie (Henry) Burkholder all of Millersburg, grandson David (Dorothy) Yoder of the home, 26 grandchildren, 100 great grandchildren, and two sisters Susie (Neal, deceased) Miller of Baltic and Mary (Roman, deceased) Troyer of Millersburg.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death a stillborn infant daughter, a sister Amanda (Andy) Yoder, three brothers-in-law, a stillborn grandson and a great grandson. 

Services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 9:00 AM at the Yoder Residence with Minister Vernon Yoder officiating.  Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery in Mechanic Twp., Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the Yoder Residence.  Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
