(Wednesday, November 07, 2018) New Philadelphia, Ohio – Just over 32,500 voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s midterm election.

Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Director Allan Sayre said there are over 59,000 registered voters in Tuscarawas County. More than 10,000 absentee ballots were sent in leaving over 22,300 voters showing up to the polls on Election Day.

Sayre said there were no major issues at polling locations across the county, however, some voters expressed concern over issues or candidates being placed on the back of the paper ballot.

“Well the voter is responsible for looking over their paper ballot and it does say at the bottom that it is one of two. The directions also say to fill in the dots and you’d be surprised how many people put check marks, circles, and things like that.”

Although the final votes are in, the Board of Elections will need to send the results to the State to be certified. Sayre said the certification process should be complete before November 27th.
