Ohio State looked to sure up a lot of things against the Black Knights on Saturday afternoon. Mainly, it was the offense that held the Buckeyes back a week ago. With a rare 4:30 PM start time at the Horseshoe, the home team got off to a fast start. 8 plays, 73 yards in 2:37 is all it took for Ohio State to take their first lead. The drive was led by freshman running back J.K. Dobbins, as quarterback J.T. Barrett ran it in from 5 yards for the score.

The Buckeyes maintained the momentum going into the 2nd quarter with a 14-0 advantage. The offenses running attack, and a strong defensive front carrying the team. Army was able to sustain a drive that started at the end of the 1st, and went into the 2nd quarter that ate up a lot of the clock. The 18 play, 99 yard drive took 9:37, and ended with a 3 yard touchdown run by Darnell Woolfolk. The Buckeyes’ ensuing drive ended with 3 points, a 33 yard field goal from Sean Nuernberger. The first half ended with Army in possession as time expired, 17-7 in favor of Ohio State.

The 3rd quarter started the way the afternoon did. The Buckeyes’ defense dominating the line of scrimmage, and J.K. Dobbins providing the spark offensively. After a missed 43 yard field goal by the Black Knights, Dobbins ignited the crowd with a 52 yard touchdown run. Ohio State’s defense also provided the first turnover of the day. A fumble by Ahmad Bradshaw and a recovery by Kendall Sheffield. The Buckeyes capitalized with a 20 yard touchdown strike from J.T. Barrett to Terry McLaurin. That score tied Barrett with former Purdue quarterback Drew Brees for the most touchdowns responsible for in BIG 10 history with 106.

With Ohio State in control in the final quarter, the team put Army away. Already ahead 31-7, Barrett connected with Austin Mack for the record breaking touchdown, passing the mark held by Brees. 107 and counting. The Buckeyes outlasted their opponent, 38-7.
