Carolyn Jo (“Ca”) Carrico Jones died on Jan. 3, 2019 at the age of 95. She was born in Morgantown, WV to Walter and Helen (Carroll) Carrico. She moved to Dover, Ohio where her father worked as a bookkeeper at Reeves Steel when she was a year old. She graduated in 1941 from Dover High School where she was a band member and a thespian. She married the love of her life, Robert (“Corkey”) Jones in 1943 and lived with him in Oklahoma and California during his WW11 Service as a Naval Pilot. After the war he completed college and they lived in Cincinnati and Springfield OH, University City and Kirkwood, MO and Glen Ellyn, IL before moving back to Dover in 1963. She was a past president of the Union Hospital Auxiliary, member of TWIG 2, president of the Tourist Club, PTA member, and Director of the Dover Senior Center prior to her retirement.

Carolyn was a voracious reader, played Chopin in the piano with gusto, played bridge until the age of 95, was a skilled seamstress and knitter, and traveled with her husband to all 50 states and internationally into her 80’s. She loved to garden, cook, make lists, and entertain. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and sang in the choir and served on the council in her 80’s. She loved her husband and her family dearly and was the matriarch of four generations. She believed in the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. She was an inspiration to those who loved her. 

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jim (“Sonny”) and Ginny Carrico, daughters, Christine Jones, Wendy Jones, Robin Jones and Tracy (David) Freeman. She has eight grandchildren, Erin Bird, Emily (Jeremy) Davis, Christine (Erik) Zumsteg, Dr. Perrin Schiebel, Madeline Schiebel, Rob (Negin) Freeman, Kate (Erfawn) Akhtar-Khavari, and Jack Freeman. She has nine great grandchildren: Ava, Sam, Marlo, Lyra, Erik, Charlotte, Leah, River and Niku, with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister and brother-in-law, Christine (John) Goldman. 

Calling hours will be at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover, OH on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4-6pm and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11am.
