(Friday, December 14th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – A tradition that started in 1997 is returning to New Philadelphia for the annual Christmas in the Park event.

The winter family event continues to grow with costumed characters and carriage rides through Storybook Lane.

Jan McInturf says this is the 22nd year for the free program at Tuscora Park where the carousel and train will offer rides.

Christmas in the Park is Sunday, December 16th from 4 pm until 8 pm and new this year will be Sponge Bob.

“Last year, we added the minions, Olaf will be there, and the Grinch will be there, so those are always big hits for the kids. We’re also adding a wood carver this year.”

McInturf adds that Santa comes down for pictures and brings some of his reindeer. Other events include a live nativity scene, musical entertainment, and pony rides.
