Commissioner Announces Retirement

A Tuscarawas County Commissioner is planning his retirement at the end of his term in 2018.

Kerry Metzger explains he will fulfill his obligations as a commissioner and that it has been an honor to serve the citizens of Tuscarawas County as an elected official for the past 30 years.

Metzger began his political career in 1987 when he was elected to a council position and then to the position as president of council for New Philadelphia.

He went on to serve for 8 years as a State Representative and for the past 15 years, Metzger has served as a Tuscarawas County Commissioner.

In a release, he states, ““As I move into the next phase of my life, I am looking forward to spending more time with family. I also want to travel and to pursue my interest in history.”

Metzger notes he will also advocate for the education and awareness of Lyme disease since his wife and son contracted the disease years ago.

His last day in office will be December 31, 2018.
