(Monday, December 17th) Tuscarawas County, Ohio – The Board of Commissioners have accepted non-general fund budgeting items.

Budget hearings will continue for county offices but some of the funding has been approved by the commissioners.

Tuscarawas County Commissioner Kerry Metzger says these specific budgets are considered as special funds for different departments who have fees.

“A lot of the departments have some form of a special fund that the revenue comes in not from the general fund but strictly through fees.”

Metzger adds that there were no major increases or additions to the non-general budget items.

“That way we have budget hearings [to] talk with each of the departments but normally, what they request they get because it doesn’t have an effect on our general fund budget.”

Work sessions continue throughout this week and the goal is to approve a permanent budget at the Commissioners December 31st meeting.
