Mary Alice Reporting:
A local organization has been nominated for a prestigious award for their efforts to advance public health.
The Tuscarawas Commissioners submitted the nomination for Healthy Tusc to be considered for the nationally recognized 2019 Dr. Nathan Davis Award.
Commissioner Chris Abbuhl explains that Healthy Tusc has played a vital role in the community through their efforts on gathering health assessment data.
“This is something that everybody in the whole county is affected by. We all want to be able to promote health awareness and healthy activities that can help individuals to improve their quality of life.”
He adds that, beyond the collected data, there are many ways the organization has made a difference in the community.
Nathan Davis was the founder of the American Medical Association (AMA), and the goal of the award is to recognize those who made a contribution to promoting the art and science of medicine and public health.
The awards ceremony is held in February.
