Michele Spring Reporting:
(June 7, 2018) Dover, Ohio – “The fire service in Tuscarawas County is a very close-knit community,” says Lt. Brian Stewart of the Dover Fire Department.
That statement proves true as one of Dover Fire’s trucks is currently out of service for motor repairs.
In a Facebook post, Lt. Stewart explained how the Uhrichsville Fire Department graciously loaned Dover a ladder truck.
“The City of Uhrichsville and Chief Edwards deserves some credit for offering up their old ladder truck for us to use. My understanding is that it is up for sale and the meantime it was just sitting there for sale, so they offered to let us use it and I thought that was really nice of them.”
Stewart adds that usually when a small city has a ladder truck out of service the city has to do without, however, Tuscarawas County is the home to many great folks willing to lend a hand.
Dover residents will see the ladder 1909 around town for a couple weeks.
Firefighters will be conducting ladder and driver training to familiarize ourselves with the truck.
