Mary Alice Reporting:
(Wednesday, October 10th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – New Philadelphia’s administration and council are reviewing contracts and budget submissions.
During the Mayors Monday council report, the city is preparing for contract negotiations with the fire, police, clerical, and service bargaining units. Their three-year contract ends December 31st and Mayor Joel Day noted the administration’s goal is to approve the contracts before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, departments have submitted their 2019 budget list for review. Those will be sent to New Philadelphia’s auditor to prepare the budgets first draft. Under a timeline, that draft is expected to be under review by the finance committee by the October 22nd council meeting.
In addition, Day notified council members that the city’s Police, Fire, and Health Departments were informed to enforce city ordinances.
“Health, Safety, and Sanitation and Junk Vehicle laws in order to clean up eyesore properties in our neighborhoods. Citations will be issued. We have a vested interest in making our city as attractive as it can be.”
Day encourages residents who may have junk on their property or see other properties with rubbish, to contact the Mayor’s office or city garage.
