Contract Renewed for County Health Commissioner

Mary Alice Reporting:

(Thursday, November 9th) Dover, Ohio – The Tuscarawas County Health Board approved a contract renewal for the health commissioner on Wednesday.

Katie Seward explains she started working at the health department in July 2014 and that this will be her second-term as commissioner.

“It’s challenging. Every day is different and so it never gets boring. That’s nice thing about our health department that a lot of people don’t know is that we are unique for the amount of diverse services that we offer.”

During the board meeting, the contract was unanimously approved and Seward says she has a great working relationship with the board and administration.

“We have instituted a lot of change of the past three years and I feel blessed to have the support of the administrative team and for the staff to have hung in with us as we have made those changes and trust the process.”

Seward originally began in the position of executive director and health commissioner until the board consolidated the roles in late 2014.
