(Thursday, October 12th) Dover, Ohio – The Tuscarawas County Commissioners are taking action to repair a slippage on Boy Scout Road during a pending legal battle.

Commissioner Joe Sciarretti explains the county authorized a loan agreement in September for slip repairs; however, work was contingent upon receiving signed easements from the property owner of River Crest Farms.

“And they haven’t been able to get agreement for the easement and one of those things that you have to do, if you’re going to build up the road, is have clearance.”

The loan agreement of almost $230,000 was previously approved with the county engineer is for a 5 year period. Sciarretti adds the county had to take eminent domain action due to a sense of urgency.

“You want to start the process before those freezing temperatures set in. we want to make sure we’re following the letter of the law and at the same time to provide that assistance, direction, and ultimately construction to restore the situation for the best of all.”

An exact timeline was not immediately available for when construction could start.
