Dan J. Troyer – October 10, 2017

Dan J. Troyer 85 of 10647 Old Zimmerman Rd SW Sugarcreek died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at his home following a 4 month illness.

He was born April 25, 1932 in Holmes County to the late Jonas D. and Katie (Hershberger) Troyer. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah J. Yoder, whom he married on October 7, 1954; his 4 sons Marvin R (Mary Jane) Troyer, Dan Jr. (Ada) Troyer, and Edwin (Anna) Troyer all of Sugarcreek and David (Dora) Troyer of the home, 26 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Noah (Anna) Troyer of Baltic and Levi (Elizabeth) Troyer of Sugarcreek, a sister Amanda (Menno) Barkman of Baltic and 3 brothers-in-law John Schlabach of Millersburg, Andrew Miller Jr of Sugarcreek and Andy J. Yoder of Baltic.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother Edna, a brother Melvin, 4 sisters Mary, Rosie, Esther and Sarah, 1 grandson and 1 great granddaughter.  

Services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 9:00 AM at the Troyer Residence with Bishop David Beachy officiating.  Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Auburn Twp., Tuscarawas County.  Friends may call anytime at the Troyer Residence.  Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
