David A. Davis – December 18, 2017

David A. Davis, 69, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Community Hospice’s Truman House. Born January 4, 1948 in Dover, he was a son of the late Joseph and Jean Davis.

An avid outdoorsman, David loved to deer hunt and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He spent many happy hours working outside on his parents’ farm and the home he built there, doing repairs and taking care of the lawn. Above all else, he loved his family and especially cherished the time that he spent with his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Linda D. (Smith) Davis; children, Bryan Davis, Chad Davis, and Brandy (Ralph) Smith; grandchildren, Ezra and Zxavian Smith; siblings, Fred (Sheila) Davis, Ann (Jim) Pretorius, and Linda (Michael) Smith; brothers- and sisters-in-law, John and Laurie Haney, Rich and Joyce Swad, Sam and Libby Swad, Daniel and Leigh Swad, David and Melinda Swad, and Randy and Nusheen Swad; and a dear family friend whom he called the Southern Belle, Carolyn Thomason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allan Davis; mother-in-law, Marjorie Moore; and father-in-law, Ernest E. Swad.

A private, family service is planned in Union Hill Cemetery at Sugarcreek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
