Mary Alice Reporting – The County Commissioners say work is progressing for a blighted building across from the courthouse.
The demolition bid was approved in April to Ohio Erie Excavating to remove the three-story warehouse that was purchased by the commissioners in 2016.
Commissioner Chris Abbuhl says the block building has needed to come down for several years. He adds that discussions are continuing over how to utilize the space once work is complete.
“What we wanted to do was take it down and put a parking lot there for now. We’ve talked about possible doing a maintenance department over there. Right now, we have a maintenance department housed in the attic of the courthouse. It’s been there for years but there’s no place to put them.”
There is still work to do related to construction and crews should have it finalized by mid-September.
