(Thursday, December 20, 2018) Dennison, Ohio – Saturday afternoon, the Dennison Fire Department provided 100 local families with food for Christmas.
Chief Dave McConnell said monetary donations and non-perishables were donated by local businesses, organizations and community members.
“Through the schools, we had a whole hallway filled with food downstairs, canned goods and such, and almost nearly $5,000. We went over to the two local stores here and bought food from.”
Once the food was purchased, food baskets were made by the fire staff and their families.
“We do appreciate all their support for all the donations. And also, I’d like to throw out there that I, myself, appreciate all my guys and their families for coming and help do this. It really goes well and I’m sure everyone that receives the food and stuff are very appreciative.”
McConnell said Share-A-Christmas provided the department with the names of families who received the food baskets.
