Despite Opposition Council Passes Landlord Ordinance

(August 11th) Uhrichsville, Ohio – Action is taken in the City of Uhrichsville to require landlords to register their properties for a fee.

During city council, Thursday night, Jack Jones, of Midvale, rents out a property in the city and expressed his conflict with the terms of the ordinance.

“I don’t believe that’s the best direction the city should take. I understand why you want but I don’t understand the way you’re going about it. It just doesn’t strike me as an efficient way of doing things.”

The ordinance passed with a 3 to 2 vote, and Council member Ron Miller explains he said no for a couple of reasons.

“I had people call me saying they was either for it or against, but most people I had call me was against it. If it wasn’t for the 25 bucks I might agreed with it for the safety.”

The ordinance requires landlords to register their property with the city and pay a yearly fee of $25.
