Mary Alice Reporting:

(Friday, December 7th) A Wednesday call sparked an investigation at the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office resulting in warrants issued for two men after an attempted robbery.

The caller reported that gunshots were heard in the area of Post Boy Road in Oxford Township and soon after, two cars were observed leaving that area.

Sheriff Orvis Campbell says that shortly after, the Newcomerstown Police Department notified deputies that a 17-year-old, from the Village, was at their station with non-life threatening injuries.

“That vehicle had three people in it total and one had suffered a gunshot wound to the hand a leg. We believe that was one bullet that caused those injuries. Our interviews led us to a female who lived in Newcomerstown.”

Statements from several individuals involved indicated that narcotics played a vital role in the incident where the victims arrived in one vehicle and saw the woman waiting at the meeting place along Liberty Road.

“And then another car pulled up and individuals jumped out, masked, and started firing rounds. We took the female into custody that evening and also, gave us another name of an individual who we found hiding in her basement. He was taken into custody.”

<p>Samantha Owens and Ian Cultrona remain in jail and are charged with complicity to commit aggravated robbery.

Detectives report that warrants have been issued for Douglas Castell and Lucian Lambes and that both should be considered armed and dangerous due to a history of violent behavior.Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office at 330-339-2000 and speak with Detective Fisher or Lt.
