Michele Spring Reporting:
(Friday, December 14, 2018) Dover, Ohio – The Dover Public Library will celebrate its grand reopening after renovations began in August of this year.
Director Jim Gill says the planning process for this renovation began in 2014.
The Friends of the Library group will host an open house on Sunday to celebrate the end of the capital fundraising campaign to raise $500,000.
“Doors open at 1, around 1:15, we’re going to have a few people speak including the State Librarian of Ohio to help with the ribbon cutting, and an art exhibit in our community room.”
Gill says the most noticeable features for visitors will be the upgraded tables and chairs, walls, and lighting, which gives the library a brand new aesthetic.
“But we’re also going to see a lot more patron-based service points. We have a centralized adult help desk. Instead of patrons having to go to this desk, that desk, there is one centralized desk. We can help patrons with their technology needs, checking out a book, asking a reference question – whatever they need.”
The library has added many technological upgrades to service laptops and portable devices, as well.
