Earl Maurer Jr., 82, of Dundee died Sunday, April 29, 2018 at his home following a period of declining health. He was born May 26, 1935 in Dover to the late Earl and Edna (Riggenbach) Maurer Sr.
He was retired from Sparta Manufacturing in Columbia and a member of the Dundee United Methodist Church. He was a very loving husband to his wife, the former Mary Dildine whom he married on December 24, 1958; loving father to his son, Eric (Kim) Maurer of Dover; grandfather of Amanda Maurer, Emily Maurer, Jennifer (Tommy) Kieffer, Ashley (Jeremy) Ackerman and Derreck Yutzy; great grandfather of Mytchell Frazier, Gavin Maurer and Brennan Ackerman; brother of Jack Maurer and Tom Maurer both of Dover, Ida Hearing of Florida, and Barb (Kenny) Sellerds of Sherrodsville; his sister-in-law, Thelma Maurer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Rena Yutzy; his brothers, Bob (Dorothy) Maurer, Glenn Maurer and Fritz (Georgia) Maurer; sister-in-law, Eileen Maurer and brother-in-law, Bobby Hearing.
Memorial Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastors Ray Garvin and Ryan Cockrill officiating. Burial in Dundee Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Saturday from 11-1 prior to services at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek. The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children, Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County or the Dundee United Methodist Church.
