Edward E. Kleski, 90, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison. Born July 30, 1927 on his family’s farm where he had still lived, he was the last surviving child of the late Matthew W. and Laura (Gorgol) Kleski, having been preceded in death by his sister, Laura Lanning; brothers, William, Walter, Stan, Fred, Cash and John Kleski; and two infant siblings.
A lifelong area resident, Ed attended Uhrichsville Schools before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in the late 40s. He was employed for over 30 years by Associated Grocers until his retirement in 1987, while also farming throughout his life. He was a member of the Teamsters Retirees Club for many years.
On July 31, 1948, he married the former Ethel M. Marty with whom he looked forward to celebrating 70 years of marriage this summer. He is survived by their son, Edward E. (Adair) Kleski, II; grandsons, Travis (Tabitha) Kleski, Matthew (Amy) Kleski and Randy Rutter; great-grandchildren, Courtney (Kyle) Kanouff, Rett Kleski, Parker Kleski, Christopher Rutter and Nathan Rutter; great-great-granddaughter, Lennox Kanouff; and many nieces and nephews.
Services, officiated by Pastor Jim McConnell, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia with a military committal service. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
