Eugene Carroll Huprich, 86, of Dover died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Community Hospice Truman House. He was born on August 5, 1931 to the late Roy Huprich and the late Dorothy Fanti Huprich. His step-mother was the late Faye Heighton Huprich. 

He was retired from Gradall Company where he was employed for over 30 years. He was an Army Veteran. On July 5, 1951, he married the former June Trachsel who survives. He was also preceded in death by by his son, Robert, who died in infancy. 

Following his retirement he gave much time to local charities. He drove for the Senior Center, helped Habitat for Humanity, he sang with the Schoenbrunn Barbershop Chorus, formerly was in the Dover Moose, Dover VFW, Strasburg AARP, Tusco Traveliers, and was a current member of St. Joseph Seniors. He enjoyed very much any outdoor and family activity. 

He is survived by his children; Diane Simmons of Beach City, Debra Huprich and David and Raven Huprich of Strasburg, Denise Huprich of Dover, Richard and Sherrlye Huprich of New Philadelphia; along with seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Gene was very active in his wood workshop where he made many toys that he donated to many charities including one in Africa. 

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. 

He shared his musical talent on the steel guitar with local country and gospel bands. 

A celebration of Gene’s life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Father Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery in Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 11:00 am until the service starts at 1:00 pm.
