(Tuesday, December 18, 2018) New Philadelphia, Ohio – The Tuscarawas County Commissioner’s approved a resolution on Monday to keep the current Citizen’s Participation Plan in place. The Citizen Participation Plan is a required component of the Ohio Community Development Block Grant Program. The Block Grant provides federal funding to communities to address a variety of needs.

Director of Economic Development Scott Reynolds says the State reviews plans every five years.

“The State has supposedly modified some of the language as to how you can go about implementing the Citizen Participation Plan, but when evaluated some of the new ways they had talked about, it ended up being more costly to the County.”

Reynolds noted that this is essentially a reauthorization of the existing plan.

“And that’s how we do our public hearings, how we notify the public when we’re going to have and hold public hearings.”

Reynolds said the city would notify the public of any special hearings via the media or the city website.
