Francis Dean Martini, 86, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison, after a brief illness. Born June 30, 1931 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Fortunato and Henrietta (Dellago) Martini.
After his graduation from St. Charles Seminary in Columbus, Francis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Upon returning home, he began his 33 year career with the U.S. Postal Service. Much of his retirement was dedicated to the care of his beloved wife, Carol Jean (Pilati) Martini, whom he married on December 28, 1957. She succumbed to her lengthy illness with Multiple Sclerosis on December 3, 2008. They are survived by three daughters, Cheri Patterson, Jan (Ron) Kail and Michele (Don) Robinson, and two granddaughters, Aliesha and Erica Robinson. Francis is also survived by his sister, Anna Mae Martini; brother-in-law, Charles Pilati; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Joe, Mary, Lena, Ines and Blanche Martini.
Francis was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison where he served as a Eucharistic minister and choir member for many years. He loved coaching his daughters’ softball teams in their youth, was an avid sports fan, and in his later years, enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Monday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, concluding with a 4:00 p.m. Christian Wake Service. Memorial contributions may be made to support the Immaculate Conception Church Choir.
