(Tuesday, February 12, 2019) Sugarcreek, Ohio – Teachers and students within the Garaway School District are embracing the spirit of Valentine’s Day this week by taking part in the school’s Kindness Challenge.
Superintendent Secretary Kelli Troyer said the idea came from Spanish teacher Valerie Hershberger who discovered the Great Kindness Challenge online.
“Since its Valentine’s Day, we want to promote a love for each other rather than that special someone as a community and as a school.”
District-wide students so far this week have been challenged to say hello to five people and make one new friend.
“On Wednesday, we want to compliment five new people, on Thursday, we want to be thankful and show gratitude to at least one person who has helped up and on Friday, we want to something to take care of our own self whether that is physical, emotional, or mental.”
The Great Kindness Challenge is a national movement designed to increase tolerance, unity and respect.
