(Monday, September 10, 2018) Bolivar, Ohio – The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the report of an employee theft from the Giant Eagle grocery store in Bolivar.

Sheriff Orvis Campbell said the loss prevention manager received a tip that an employee had reportedly eaten small amounts of lunch meat over the course of eight years. Giant Eagle estimates it was approximately $9,200.

“When our deputies got there, his job was to take a report and he did that. He didn’t take any other action. There are a lot of issues that could be brought up involving that amount. One being the statute of limitations and two being it was an estimate to begin with.”

Sheriff Campbell said the woman was very cooperative with officials.

The next step is for the Sheriff’s office to send the report to the Prosecutor’s Office as they will determine if any charges will be filed.
