Nick McWilliams reporting – An area service group is changing homes over the next few days, and will remain closed during that time.
The HARCATUS Family Service Center originally located along West High Avenue will now transition to its new home throughout the weekend, and will be closed from August 29th through September 4th.
Community Services Director Michele Lucas says that HARCATUS’ new home provides more public awareness and exposure.
“We’ll be moving into a location that is very visible from [U.S.] 250. It really is a much newer and more modern facility. Our offices are really going to be quite a bit different than what we’re used to.”
The New Philadelphia FSC has been in the same place for around the last 10 years.
The new location on 875 Blake Avenue is a former model home.
Although the moving process has its own hurdles, Lucas say that their office has a plan for area residents who need help over the next few days.
“It’s just going to be a little tricky for a few days until we get our bearings and we’re ready to deal with the public. But, in the interim, we’re referring people to the Dennison office for assistance in that’s what they need.”
HARCATUS provides assistance programs to residents who are in need based on income levels, age and other factors.
