Nick McWilliams reporting – The annual Community Hospice Yard Sale netted a sizable sum for the non-profit organization.
Every year, the yard sale held at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds brings donations of various items from homes throughout the area, which will be sold to raise money for patient care.
This year, Fundraising and Events Coordinator Mona Sayre says that the donation window had to be closed early due to a massive influx of contributions.
“We had so many donations that we actually closed donations early, which is very unusual for us. But it allowed our volunteers to process and catalog and mark everything they had. So it really was a necessary move, and we are so grateful to the community for understanding that, and for their support.”
As for the sales aspect, Hospice received over $47,000 in preliminary reports.
Sayre says that they are extremely grateful for the support showed once again by the Tuscarawas Valley as a whole in helping fund their group.
“We don’t turn anyone away, regardless of their ability to pay. So it’s fundraisers like the garage sale that allow us to provide that patient care.”
Donations can be made anytime at the Dover, Carrolton and Uhrichsville Browse and Buy stores.
