Icy Roads and Cold Temperatures Return to the Valley

<p>Mary Alice Reporting:

(Friday, January 12th) Tuscarawas County, Ohio – AAA is sending a safety message after the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning effective this afternoon at 4pm for Tuscarawas and surrounding counties.

AAA East Central Public Relations Manager Jim Garrity urges everyone to stay at home as rain turns into snow and temperatures drop.

If you do go out, he says to add in your vehicle a bag of sand or cat litter to either weigh a lighter car down or, in case of sliding off the road, the material can be placed under tires creating an abrasive surface.

He advises with temperature going from 50 to a low of 5 degrees by Saturday night you should place your vehicle in a garage is possible.

“If you don’t have access to a garage maybe find a tarp to put over the hood. Also, make sure you keep the gas tank half-full. Some gasoline has some water in it and you want to make sure you avoid any fuel-line freeze-up.”

The winter storm warning issued from Friday, January 12th at 4pm through Saturday, January 13th at 10am effects areas including Tuscarawas, Carroll, Coshocton, and Harrison counties.
