Nick McWilliams reporting – Thanks to a pair of donations, Dover’s Crater Stadium will see a few upgrades.

Treasurer Andrew Bache gave thanks to both donators, who footed the bill for two projects that will be utilized by the school for years to come.

Superintendent Carla Birney says that a new track is an asset for the city of Dover as a whole.

“The track really benefits our entire community. If you’re there at 5 o’clock in the morning, you’ll see community members walking, running on the track to get their exercise before they go to work, or before their day begins.”

In addition to the new running and walking surface, the stadium is also receiving a new video scoreboard.

Bache says that the donation came from the school’s booster club and a long-time supporter of the school.

“The Tornado Club, along with Karen Stokey, has donated a scoreboard, along with the installation process. That will be really be nice for all of our sports teams to enjoy on a given Friday night, or any other night throughout the week.”

The track remained closed for the work, and Birney thanked residents for their cooperation during the process.

The new surface is expected to open this fall for residents.
