Investigation Underway After Middle School Bomb Threat

Michaela Madison Reporting

(Thursday, November 9th) Dover, Ohio – The Dover Police Department is working to find the person responsible for making a bomb threat against the middle school, spurring an evacuation of the entire building.

Dover Police Detective Jason Peters confirmed a note was found on the bathroom floor Wednesday morning.

“An anonymous note on the floor was found by a student and turned over to the staff,” explained Detective Peters. “Indicated there would be a bomb in the middle school. They called us and they also called in transportation for the students to get them safely to the high school.”

Middle School students were at the high school for roughly two hours while police and a K9 Officer and handler from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sweep of the building. They found nothing indicating any danger.

“These will be serious crimes,” added Detective Peters. “We don’t have a choice whether to take it seriously or not. We take all of these types of incidents seriously. We want to ensure the safety of the kids first, and that’s exactly what we did.”

Peters added it is an ongoing investigation.

“We will try to get to the bottom of it.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Dover Police Department.
