James Ray Long, 77, of Gnadenhutten, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at The Cleveland Clinic. Born April 21, 1940 in Dennison, he was the son of the late Ray Ermil and Inez Leona (Baldwin) Long.
A 1958 graduate of Dennison High School, Jim will be remembered as the owner and proprietor of Jim’s Automotive Repair in Uhrichsville since 1970. He loved all things to do with cars and was an auto racing fan throughout his life, having recently been part of a pit crew with ARCA Truck Series racing. He was a member of Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church.
On September 6, 1959, Jim married the former Evelyn Sue Cecil who survives him, along with their children, James K. (Beverly) Long, Jeannine Rae (Billy) Milburn, Jeffrey Cecil (Jeannie) Long, Jonathan Allen Long and Jill Elizabeth (David) McPeek; grandchildren, Tyler, Curtis, Morgan, Austin, Preston, Hailey, Trevor, Ashlee, Billy, Ellie and Logan; and great-grandchildren, Paris, Paisley, Brooklynne, Connor, Zeke and Ian.
Services, officiated by Pastor Seth Filburn, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will be in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church.
