Joann Cummings, 81, of Dennison, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born April 16, 1937 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Orville Emory and Edith Margaret (Martin) Coventry.
On October 21, 1953, she married Richard P. “Dick” Cummings with whom she enjoyed over 57 years of marriage until his passing on May 16, 2011. They are survived by a son, Rick (Debbie) Cummings; daughters, Tammy (Rich) Best and Shawn (Randy) Cummings; grandchildren, Travis Donato, Danielle (Cade) Adams, Derek (Rachel) Cummings, Rachel Cummings, and Montana Best; and great-grandchildren, Katie, Trevor, Sarah, Mariah and Tiffany Donato, Rylee, Coleton and Peyton Adams, and Ava, Owen, Grayson and Kainen Cummings. She is also survived by her brothers, Dean (Ruth Ann) Coventry, Denny (Phyllis) Coventry, and Jim Coventry, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Shull, Esther Wayts, Betty Tatman and Don, Paul, Watts and Dick Coventry. Joann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who will be deeply missed by her family.
In keeping with Joann’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
