Kathryn G. “Katie” Krantz, age 98, of New Philadelphia, and a former Dover resident, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018, in Park Village Southside.

Born October 17, 1919, in Strasburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Emma Kaylor Reed. Katie attended school in Strasburg, and, on October 17, 1936, married Harley E. Krantz. The couple shared 74 years of marriage prior to Harley’s passing on October 25, 2010. Katie was a loving homemaker. She attended the Dover Foursquare Church, and one of her favorite pastimes was knitting – she lovingly knitted countless gifts for family and friends over the years.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Kathy Shaver of Dover, Sharon (Leroy) Chambers of Dennison, Rhonda Davis of Tuscarawas, Melanie (Lee) Kohli of Winesburg, and Bill (Jackie) Sterling of Millersburg; her great-grandchildren, Jeremy (Toshia) Shaver, Barry (Jennifer) Chambers, Amanda Sanchez, Carly (Jeff) Positano, Keith (Melissa) Chambers, Tyler (Lorna) Waters and Dylan Sterling; her eleven great-great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Caroline Reed.

Besides her parents, and her beloved husband, Harley, Katie was preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Jean Koppes; her grandson-in-law, Mark Davis; and her three sisters and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 5, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Rod Phillips of the Dennison Foursquare Church officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
